Refund Policy
A legal disclaimer
For Storeyhouse Counseling and Consulting LLC (SHCC)
Effective Date: January 01, 2026
Last Updated: July 01, 2026
This Refund Policy explains how SHCC handles payments, refunds, credits, cancellations, missed appointments, returned products, digital purchases, courses, classes, workshops, and events.
By scheduling services, purchasing products, enrolling in a course, registering for a class or workshop, attending an event, downloading materials, or otherwise purchasing from SHCC, you agree to this Refund Policy.
This Refund Policy should be read together with our Terms and Conditions, Legal Disclaimer, Privacy Policy, and, for psychotherapy clients, our Informed Consent, Financial Agreement, HIPAA Notice of Privacy Practices, and any other clinical documents.
This policy does not limit any rights you may have under applicable federal, state, or local law.
1. Important Legal and Clinical Notice
SHCC provides both clinical psychotherapy services and non-clinical educational products or offerings. Refund rights may differ depending on whether you purchased:
-
Psychotherapy or other clinical services;
-
Physical books or physical products;
-
Digital products, downloads, recordings, or e-books;
-
Online courses or digital services;
-
Classes, workshops, webinars, retreats, trainings, or paid events.
Psychotherapy services are healthcare services and may be subject to additional laws, insurance contracts, ethical requirements, Good Faith Estimate rules, and clinical policies.
Refund Policy
2. General Refund Principles
Unless a more specific policy applies below, the following general rules apply:
-
Refund requests must be submitted in writing to [email address].
-
Refund eligibility is based on the type of purchase, date of purchase, whether the service was provided, whether digital materials were accessed, and whether the cancellation deadline was met.
-
Refunds are issued to the original payment method whenever possible.
-
Processing fees, platform fees, payment processor fees, shipping charges, and administrative fees may be non-refundable where allowed by law.
-
Refunds may take [5–10 business days] to process after approval, depending on the payment processor or financial institution.
-
We reserve the right to offer a credit, transfer, replacement, or rescheduling option instead of a refund where allowed by law and stated in this policy.
-
No refund will be issued for fraud, misuse, violation of our Terms and Conditions, unauthorized sharing of materials, disruptive event behavior, or abuse of refund policies.
-
This policy does not waive any legal rights that cannot be waived under applicable law.
3. Psychotherapy Services Refund Policy
3.1 Completed Psychotherapy Sessions
Fees paid for psychotherapy sessions that have already been provided are non-refundable, except in cases of billing error, duplicate payment, overpayment, insurance adjustment, or as otherwise required by law. A completed psychotherapy session includes any session that you attended in full or in part, whether provided in person, by telehealth, by phone, or through another approved clinical format.
3.2 Scheduled Sessions, Cancellations, and No-Shows
Psychotherapy appointments must be cancelled or rescheduled at least 24 hours before the scheduled appointment time.
If you cancel with at least 24 hours’ notice, you will not be charged for the session, or any prepaid amount may be applied to a future session or refunded upon request.
If you cancel with less than 24 hours’ notice or do not attend your scheduled appointment, you may be charged a late cancellation or no-show fee of [$50 fee, except where prohibited by law, insurance contract, or written Practice policy. Late cancellation and no-show fees are generally not billable to insurance and are the client’s responsibility unless otherwise stated in your financial agreement.
3.3 Emergencies and Exceptional Circumstances
We understand that emergencies happen. SHCC may waive a late cancellation or no-show fee at its discretion for emergencies, sudden illness, severe weather, technology outages, or other exceptional circumstances. Waiver of a fee in one situation does not guarantee waiver of a fee in the future.
3.4 Therapist Cancellation or Rescheduling
If SHCC must cancel or reschedule a psychotherapy session, you will not be charged for that session. If you prepaid for the session, the payment may be applied to a future session or refunded upon request.
3.5 Prepaid Psychotherapy Sessions or Packages
If you purchase prepaid psychotherapy sessions or a package of sessions, fees for sessions already provided are non-refundable.
Unused prepaid sessions may be refunded upon written request, minus any applicable administrative fees, discounts already applied, payment processing fees, or balances owed, unless otherwise required by law.
If a package discount was applied and you request a refund before using all sessions, completed sessions may be recalculated at the standard session rate of $135 before any remaining balance is refunded.
Prepaid sessions must be used within 6 months unless otherwise agreed in writing or required by law.
3.6 Insurance, Copayments, Deductibles, and Overpayments
If you use insurance, your refund eligibility may depend on your insurance plan, claim processing, copayments, coinsurance, deductibles, and any applicable insurance contract. If an overpayment occurs because of duplicate payment, insurance adjustment, claim correction, or billing error, SHCC will apply the overpayment to your balance or issue a refund, depending on your preference and applicable law. Refunds for insurance-related overpayments may not be processed until the insurance claim is finalized.
3.7 Good Faith Estimate Disputes
If you are uninsured or self-pay and believe your bill is substantially higher than your Good Faith Estimate, you may have federal dispute rights. CMS states that uninsured or self-pay individuals generally should receive a Good Faith Estimate when scheduling care at least 3 business days in advance or when requesting one, and they may be able to dispute a bill that is at least $400 more than the estimate.
Contact SHCC at info@shccal.com with billing concerns before initiating a formal dispute so we can review the issue.
3.8 Termination of Psychotherapy Services
If psychotherapy services end, you remain responsible for fees for services already provided, late cancellation or no-show fees, unpaid balances, and other charges disclosed in your financial agreement.
Any unused prepaid amounts, if applicable, will be handled according to this Refund Policy and applicable law.

Accompanied by proof of purchase.
To request a return, email info@shccal.com with your order number before sending the item back.
Unauthorized returns may not be accepted.
4.2 Non-Returnable Physical Products
The following physical items are non-refundable unless defective, damaged in transit, incorrect, or otherwise required by law:

Signed or personalized books;
-
Clearance or final-sale items;

Opened workbooks or journals;

Unless the item arrived damaged, defective, or incorrect, return shipping is the responsibility of the customer.
Original shipping fees are non-refundable.
We recommend using a trackable shipping method. SHCC is not responsible for returns lost in transit.
4.4 Damaged, Defective, or Incorrect Items
If your book or physical product arrives damaged, defective, or incorrect, contact us at info@shccal.com within 7 days of delivery.
Please include:
-
Your name;
-
Order number;
-
Description of the issue;
-
Photos of the damaged, defective, or incorrect item;
-
Photos of the packaging, if applicable.
Depending on the situation, we may offer a replacement, refund, store credit, or other appropriate remedy.
4.5 Shipping Delays and Unavailable Items
We make reasonable efforts to ship physical products within the timeframe stated at checkout. If no timeframe is stated, we will make reasonable efforts to ship within 30 days. If we cannot ship within the promised timeframe, we may contact you to request consent to a delay or issue a refund, consistent with applicable law. The FTC’s Mail, Internet, or Telephone Order Merchandise Rule addresses delayed shipments and refund obligations for merchandise ordered online, by mail, or by phone.
4.6 Third-Party Purchases
If you purchased a book or product through Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Bookshop, a course platform, event platform, retailer, distributor, or other third party, your refund or return is governed by that third party’s policy.
SHCC cannot guarantee refunds for purchases made through third-party sellers.
5. Digital Products, Downloads, E-Books, and Recordings
5.1 Digital Product Refund Policy
Digital products are generally non-refundable once accessed, downloaded, streamed, opened, or delivered, unless otherwise required by law or specifically stated at checkout.
Digital products may include:
-
E-books;

Worksheets;
-
Audio recordings;
-
Video recordings;
-
Meditation or practice recordings;
-
Downloadable guides;
-
Templates;
-
Self-paced course materials;
-
Digital bundles.
Because digital products can be copied, saved, downloaded, or consumed immediately, refunds are limited.
5.2 Refunds Before Access
If you purchase a digital product but have not accessed, downloaded, streamed, opened, or received the product, you may request a refund within [3/7/14] days of purchase. We may verify access records before approving a refund.
5.3 Technical Issues
If you have trouble accessing a digital product, contact us at info@shccal.com within 7 days of purchase.
We will make reasonable efforts to help you access the product. If the issue cannot be resolved and you have not accessed or downloaded the product, we may issue a refund, replacement link, or credit.
5.4 Unauthorized Sharing
Refunds will not be issued if we determine that the digital product was downloaded, copied, shared, uploaded, distributed, resold, or otherwise used in violation of our Terms and Conditions.
6. Online Courses and Digital Services
6.1 Self-Paced Courses
Unless otherwise stated at checkout, self-paced courses are eligible for a refund within 7 days of purchase only if you have not completed more than 10% of the course and have not downloaded substantial course materials. After 7 days, or after substantial course access, course fees are non-refundable.
6.2 Live Online Courses
For live online courses with scheduled meeting dates, the following refund schedule applies unless otherwise stated at checkout:
-
Cancellation at least 14 days before the first class: full refund minus processing fees.
-
Cancellation 7–13 days before the first class: 50% refund or credit.
-
Cancellation fewer than 7 days before the first class: non-refundable.
-
Cancellation after the course begins: non-refundable, except where required by law or approved by SHCC in writing.
6.3 Course Transfers
You may request to transfer your registration to a future course date if space is available and the request is made at least 14 days before the course begins.
Transfers are not guaranteed. Only one transfer is allowed per purchase unless we agree otherwise in writing.
6.4 Missed Classes in a Course
No refunds, partial refunds, or credits are provided for missed classes, late arrivals, early departures, technology issues on the participant’s side, or failure to complete course materials.
If recordings are available, access to recordings may be provided according to the course description.
6.5 Digital Services, Memberships, and Subscriptions
Use this section only if applicable.
Digital services may include memberships, subscription content, online communities, digital libraries, paid newsletters, recurring educational resources, or similar non-clinical offerings.
Unless otherwise stated at checkout:
-
Subscription fees are billed in advance.
-
You may cancel future renewal charges according to the cancellation instructions provided at checkout or in your account.
-
Cancellation stops future billing but does not automatically refund amounts already paid.
-
Partial-month or partial-period refunds are not provided unless required by law or stated in writing.
-
Promotional trials, discounted periods, and recurring charges are subject to the terms disclosed at signup.
7. Classes, Workshops, Webinars, Trainings, and Paid Educational Events
7.1 General Event Refund Policy
Unless a different refund policy is stated on the registration page, checkout page, or event agreement, the following policy applies to paid classes, workshops, webinars, trainings, retreats, presentations, and events:
-
Cancellation at least 14 days before the event: full refund minus processing fees.
-
Cancellation 7–13 days before the event: 50% refund or credit.
-
Cancellation fewer than 7 days before the event: non-refundable.
-
No-shows: non-refundable.
-
Late arrivals or early departures: non-refundable.
7.2 Event Credits
Instead of a refund, SHCC may offer a credit toward a future class, workshop, webinar, or event.
Credits must be used within 6 months of the original purchase date unless otherwise stated in writing.
Credits are not redeemable for cash.
7.3 Transfers to Another Participant
Event registrations may be transferred to another person only with prior written approval from SHCC.
Transfer requests must be submitted at least 3 days before the event.
The substitute participant must meet any eligibility requirements and agree to all applicable terms, disclaimers, and participation rules.
7.4 Minimum Enrollment
Some events require minimum enrollment. If we cancel an event due to low enrollment, you will receive a choice of refund or credit.
7.5 Cancellation by Practice
If SHCC cancels a paid class, workshop, webinar, training, retreat, or event and does not provide a reasonable substitute date, format, or replacement offering, you will receive [a full refund / a credit / your choice of refund or credit].
We are not responsible for travel costs, lodging, childcare, lost wages, missed work, or other expenses related to event cancellation unless expressly agreed in writing.
7.6 Rescheduled Events
If an event is rescheduled, your registration will automatically transfer to the new date.
If you cannot attend the rescheduled date, you may request a refund within 14 days or a credit 7 days of receiving the rescheduling notice.
7.7 In-Person Event Limitations
For in-person events, refunds are not provided for participant travel delays, transportation problems, illness, weather affecting participant travel, parking issues, personal schedule conflicts, or failure to attend. If SHCC cancels or changes the event due to severe weather, venue issues, public health concerns, safety concerns, instructor illness, or other circumstances beyond our control, we may provide a refund, credit, transfer, or rescheduled date depending on the circumstances and applicable law.
7.8 Removal From an Event
No refund will be provided if a participant is removed from an event, class, workshop, webinar, retreat, online community, or training for:
-
Harassment;
-
Threatening or unsafe behavior;
-
Disruptive conduct;
-
Discrimination or hate speech;
-
Recording without permission;
-
Sharing confidential or private information about others;
-
Violating intellectual property rules;
-
Attending while intoxicated or impaired;
-
Refusing to follow event safety guidelines;
-
Violating our Terms and Conditions.
8. Bundles and Promotional Offers
If you purchase a bundle that includes multiple items, such as a book, digital product, class, event ticket, or course, refund eligibility depends on which parts of the bundle have been accessed, downloaded, shipped, attended, or used.
If part of the bundle has already been used, accessed, downloaded, attended, or shipped, the refund may be reduced by the full retail value of that item, plus any non-refundable processing, platform, or shipping fees.
Promotional discounts, coupon codes, limited-time offers, and sale purchases may be final sale if stated at checkout.
9. Payment Plans
If you enroll in a payment plan, you are responsible for all payments according to the payment schedule disclosed at checkout or in your written agreement.
A payment plan is not a subscription that can be cancelled simply because you stop participating, stop attending, or stop accessing materials, unless the payment plan terms say otherwise. Failure to complete payment may result in suspended access to courses, digital products, events, materials, certificates, communities, or other non-clinical offerings.
For psychotherapy services, unpaid balances will be handled according to your clinical financial agreement, applicable law, and ethical obligations.
10. Chargebacks and Payment Disputes
Before initiating a chargeback or payment dispute, please contact us at info@shccal.com so we can try to resolve the issue.
We reserve the right to dispute improper chargebacks and provide documentation to the payment processor, including proof of purchase, attendance, access, delivery, signed agreements, refund policy acceptance, or communication history.
Initiating a chargeback for a valid charge may result in loss of access to non-clinical products, courses, events, memberships, or services.
For psychotherapy clients, billing disputes will be handled in a clinically appropriate manner consistent with applicable law, ethics rules, and your financial agreement.
