For Storeyhouse Counseling and Consulting LLC
Effective Date: January 1, 2026
Last Updated: June 30, 2026
Welcome to Storeyhouse Counseling and Consulting LLC. (SHCC) (“Practice,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). This Legal Disclaimer applies to our website, blog, social media content, emails, newsletters, downloadable materials, books, paid and unpaid events, workshops, classes, courses, webinars, presentations, and other educational resources, whether offered online or in person.
1. Educational Information Only
Unless you are actively receiving psychotherapy services from SHCC through a signed informed consent and treatment agreement, the information provided by our Practice is for general educational and informational purposes only.
Our website, social media posts, newsletters, books, handouts, classes, events, workshops, webinars, and other materials are not psychotherapy, medical advice, psychiatric advice, diagnosis, treatment, crisis counseling, or a substitute for individualized care from a qualified health professional.
2. No Therapist-Client Relationship From General Content or Purchases
Viewing our website, reading our content, attending an event, enrolling in a class, purchasing a book or digital product, downloading materials, subscribing to our newsletter, commenting on social media, or contacting us through a website form does not create a therapist-client, provider-patient, supervisory, consulting, fiduciary, or other professional relationship.
A therapist-client relationship is formed only when all of the following have occurred:
-
We determine that your needs are within our scope of practice and that services are appropriate;
-
We confirm that you are located in a jurisdiction where we are licensed or legally authorized to provide services;
-
You complete all required intake, consent, privacy, and financial documents;
-
We formally accept you as a client; and
-
A psychotherapy appointment is scheduled and provided.
3. Psychotherapy Clients
If you are a current psychotherapy client of SHCC, your clinical care is governed by your signed informed consent, HIPAA Notice of Privacy Practices, financial agreement, cancellation policy, treatment plan, and applicable law.
If any information in this Legal Disclaimer or in our general educational materials conflicts with your signed clinical documents, the clinical documents control with respect to psychotherapy services.
4. No Emergency or Crisis Services
Our website, email, contact forms, voicemail, social media accounts, classes, events, and educational materials are not monitored 24/7 and are not appropriate for emergencies or urgent mental health situations.
If you are experiencing a medical or mental health emergency, believe you may harm yourself or someone else, or need immediate support, call 911, go to the nearest emergency room, or call or text 988 in the United States for the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. Current clients should also follow the crisis and emergency instructions provided in their informed consent paperwork.
5. No Guarantee of Results
Psychotherapy, educational programs, classes, workshops, books, and self-help resources may support growth, reflection, and learning, but we do not guarantee any specific outcome, improvement, diagnosis, symptom reduction, relationship change, financial result, professional result, or personal transformation.
Your results may vary based on many factors, including your circumstances, participation, history, environment, health, support system, and whether you seek individualized professional care.
6. Scope of Practice and Jurisdiction
Psychotherapy services are provided only to individuals located in jurisdictions where SHCC counselors are licensed or otherwise legally authorized to practice. You may be required to confirm your physical location at the time of each telehealth session.
Educational materials, books, events, and classes may be available to a broader audience, but they do not constitute clinical services and are not tailored to the laws, regulations, or clinical standards of every jurisdiction.
7. Group Events, Classes, and Workshops Are Not Psychotherapy
Unless expressly stated in writing, our events, classes, workshops, webinars, retreats, trainings, presentations, and group learning experiences are educational in nature and are not psychotherapy, group therapy, diagnosis, treatment, crisis intervention, or individualized clinical advice.
Participants may voluntarily share personal information in group settings. We ask participants to respect one another’s privacy, but we cannot guarantee that other participants will maintain confidentiality. Participants should use discretion when sharing personal, sensitive, or health-related information.
8. Books and Self-Help Materials
Books, workbooks, guides, exercises, journaling prompts, audio/video content, downloads, and other self-help materials offered by SHCC are educational resources. They are not a substitute for psychotherapy, medical care, psychiatric care, legal advice, financial advice, or crisis support.
Some materials may discuss sensitive emotional topics. You are responsible for choosing whether and how to use the materials. Stop using any material that feels destabilizing or unsafe, and seek appropriate professional or emergency support as needed.
9. Third-Party Links and Resources
Our website, materials, books, courses, or events may reference third-party websites, products, services, professionals, books, apps, or resources. These references are provided for convenience or education only. We do not control and are not responsible for third-party content, privacy practices, availability, quality, accuracy, or policies.
A reference to a third party does not necessarily mean that we endorse, sponsor, or guarantee that third party.
10. Testimonials and Examples
Any testimonials, case examples, stories, or illustrations used by SHCC are for educational or marketing purposes only. They do not guarantee that you will have the same or similar experience. When clinical examples are used, identifying information will be changed or permission will be obtained as required by applicable law and ethics rules.
11. Professional Advice
Nothing on our website or in our educational materials should be used to disregard, delay, or avoid seeking professional care. Always consult a qualified healthcare provider, mental health professional, physician, attorney, accountant, or other appropriate professional for advice specific to your circumstances.

4. Psychotherapy Services
4.1 Eligibility for Psychotherapy
Psychotherapy Services are available only to individuals who are appropriate for the Practice’s services and who are physically located in a jurisdiction where the clinician is licensed or otherwise legally authorized to provide care.
The Practice may decline, pause, or discontinue services when clinically, ethically, or legally appropriate, including when your needs fall outside the Practice’s scope, when a higher level of care is indicated, when a conflict of interest exists, when telehealth is not appropriate, or when services cannot be provided safely or legally.
4.2 Intake and Consent
Before receiving Psychotherapy Services, you must complete all required intake forms and consent documents. You agree to provide accurate and complete information, including your legal name, date of birth, contact information, location, emergency contact, relevant health information, and payment information.
4.3 Telehealth
If services are provided by telehealth, you are responsible for ensuring that you have a private location, reliable internet connection, appropriate device, and safe environment for sessions.
You may be asked to confirm your physical location at the beginning of each telehealth session. Telehealth may not be appropriate for every person or situation. The Practice may recommend in-person services, additional support, crisis services, or a higher level of care when clinically appropriate.
4.4 Confidentiality
Psychotherapy Services are confidential except as permitted or required by law, ethical rules, and your signed clinical documents. Common exceptions may include, depending on applicable law, risk of serious harm to yourself or others, suspected abuse or neglect of children or vulnerable adults, court orders, health oversight activities, collection of unpaid fees, insurance/payment operations, and other legally permitted or required disclosures.
Your HIPAA Notice of Privacy Practices provides more detailed information about how protected health information may be used and disclosed.
4.5 Communication Between Sessions
Email, text messaging, website forms, voicemail, social media, and client portal messaging may have privacy and timing limitations. These methods are not appropriate for emergencies.
The Practice’s expected response time for non-urgent communications is 2 business days, excluding weekends, holidays, vacations, emergencies, and office closures.
4.6 Fees and Payment for Psychotherapy
Fees for Psychotherapy Services are listed in your financial agreement or fee schedule. Payment is due at the time of service unless otherwise agreed in writing.

4.7 Insurance
If the Practice accepts insurance, you are responsible for understanding your benefits, copayments, coinsurance, deductibles, coverage limits, prior authorization requirements, and any amounts not paid by your insurer.
If the Practice is out-of-network or private pay only, you are responsible for all fees unless otherwise agreed in writing. Superbills may be provided upon request if clinically and administratively appropriate, but reimbursement is not guaranteed.
4.8 Good Faith Estimates
If you are uninsured or choose not to use insurance for healthcare services, you may be entitled to a Good Faith Estimate of expected charges under applicable federal or state law. The Practice will provide Good Faith Estimate information as required.
4.9 Cancellations and No-Shows for Psychotherapy
Appointments must be cancelled or rescheduled at least 24 hours in advance. Late cancellations or missed appointments may be charged a fee of $ 50 except where prohibited by law, insurance contract, or written Practice policy.
Repeated late cancellations or no-shows may result in referral to another provider or termination of services, consistent with ethical and legal obligations.
5. Paid Events, Classes, Workshops, Webinars, and Groups

Unless explicitly stated in a signed clinical agreement, paid events, classes, workshops, webinars, retreats, trainings, presentations, and groups are educational offerings and are not psychotherapy, group therapy, clinical supervision, medical advice, psychiatric care, crisis counseling, or individualized treatment.

5.3 Participation and Conduct
Participants agree to behave respectfully and not harass, threaten, discriminate against, exploit, record, photograph, or disclose private information about other participants.
We may remove a participant from an event, class, workshop, webinar, or online community without refund if the participant is disruptive, unsafe, abusive, intoxicated, threatening, violating privacy, violating intellectual property rights, or otherwise interfering with the experience or safety of others.
5.4 Confidentiality in Group Learning Settings
We ask participants not to share personal information disclosed by others. However, because other participants are not employees or agents of the Practice, we cannot guarantee confidentiality in events, classes, workshops, webinars, online communities, or group learning spaces.

Automatic renewal and subscription laws vary by state and may require specific disclosures, consent language, reminders, and cancellation procedures. This section should be reviewed by an attorney before use.

Do not add mandatory arbitration, class action waiver, or jury trial waiver language without attorney review, especially for healthcare and psychotherapy services.
19. Termination or Suspension of Access
We may suspend or terminate access to non-clinical products, events, classes, communities, or website features if you violate these Terms, fail to pay amounts owed, misuse materials, disrupt events, infringe intellectual property rights, or engage in unsafe or unlawful behavior. For psychotherapy clients, termination of clinical services will be handled according to applicable law, ethics rules, clinical judgment, and your informed consent documents.
